Women's podium in Bromont

Hello from Warren, Vermont!

Mike and I have been good, but busy, enjoying our life as
professional mountain bike racers.

Since we returned from Europe a few weeks ago we spent a quick week
at home then loaded up our camp trailer and van and drove north to
Bromont, Quebec for the Canada Cup finals.  It was a perfect
opportunity to get in a "tune up" race on one of the more technical
and steep courses we know and a great excuse to come to train in
the northeast.

There was a good turn out for this Cat 1 UCI race with a lot of
international competitors, so the fields were not just canadian
stacked. Mike was riding strong (in the top 5) but unfortunately
due to traffic on the course was forced to take a bad line thru a
sharp rock garden and flatted... he lost a little time, which he
never got back, but managed the situation with finesse and also
worked his way back up to finish 7th.  He was good natured about
his mechanical, stoked to get in a hard work out, earn some uci
points, and a little $ to cover a few tanks o diesel...

I went from the gun and never looked back.  Pushing myself as hard
a I could, chasing down the elite mens field who started a minute
in front of us.  It felt great to be able to go out front and win
the race.  It was also nice to be at a smaller more intimate venue
where we could really feel the grass roots vibe and the sport of
mountain biking truly thriving.

Trailer life is sweet.  We love having our convenient set up where
we can really focus on racing and training where ever we are.  Mike
and I got another solid block of training here in the beautiful
Green Mountains of VT, climbing gaps and riding new roads and
trails.  Both really stoked to feel strong as we head into the
season finale.  next 2 stops - World Cup Finals (Windham, NY -
8/28) and World Championships (Mont Ste Anne, Quebec - 9/4).  and
looking forward to it! :-)
