Is the Tiszavirág Szeged the best place to stay in Szeged?
The Tiszavirág Szeged is a boutique hotel located in a renovated townhouse in the centre of Szeged.
It has everything you need for a relaxing, comfy and enjoyable stay.
We stayed for two nights and this is what we thought:
Our Room
Our room was massive! And certainly felt more like a designer apartment than a hotel room.
The bedroom and sitting room can be separated so you can truly have your own space (imperative when you've been travelling with someone for so long).
The sitting room has an en-suite bathroom equipped with a gigantic shower and lovely toiletries.
The bedroom had it's own water feature too - a massive sink and a bath!
There were two big TVs - one in the bedroom, one in the sitting room. The sitting room also had a great work desk and a comfy sofa - which doubles up as a spare bed.
But best of all was the bed in the bedroom. I don't think we've ever slept in a bed so comfy - it was covered in beautiful pillows and cushions! It's the kind of comfort that can only be described as sleeping on a cloud.
Thoughtfulness:
In our room was a gift of oranges. I mistook them for grapefruits and very excitedly told my Insta-story that I loved grapefruits.
The next day we had another gift - this time it really was grapefruits! How thoughtful is that?
Breakfast
Speaking of yummy food - breakfast was awesome: bread, jam, croissants, coffee, freshly squeezed juice (orange for Tanbay, grapefruit for me), fruit, cereal and porridge. Upon hearing that we are vegan they took out the butter and replaced it with olive oil! So thoughtful. SO delicious. The waiter was super nice too, and was very patient with our abysmal Hungarian.
Location
Location, location, location for Tiszavirág Szeged: it's one of those awesome anomalies where it's both right in the centre of town, but also peaceful and quiet.
It's the perfect place to explore the city from - you can walk to all the sites using Tiszavirág as a base.
There's also one vegan restaurant 10 minutes walk away and one vegetarian restaurant - also 10 minutes walk away, but in the other direction. And there's a tesco that stocks humane milks.
How to get to Tiszavirág Szeged?
Tiszavirág Szeged is within walking distance to the train station - it takes just 20 minutes! But if you're lazy there's also a tram :)
But first you have to get to the train station. We spent a week interrailing round Hungary and it was the best! With an Interrail pass you can visit 30 countries in Europe and over 1000s of destinations. It was great for us (with our shite Hungarian) to be able to hop on any train in Hungary without worrying about getting a ticket.
Conclusion
So there you have it, we absolutely loved our stay at the Tiszavirág Szeged: the staff were lovely, the breakfast was great, our room was gigantic and so stylish and we had the best night's sleep ever in the bed. Definitely recommend for when you visit Szeged - and even for those that live in Szeged and want a weekend of peace and quiet.
