Crowne Plaza Vientiane Best Hotel For Business Travel
We stayed for four nights and this is what we thought:
Check-in is in a spacious, high-ceilinged lobby decorated with gorgeous flowers. We checked in very early (check-in is at 3pm but we got there at 11am), we were happy to see that there was a comfy sofa area for us to wait in. We were even happier when they let us check in straight away, not before we'd had a delicious welcome drink though!
Our room was large and stylish with a delightful Lao design aspect. It included a flat screen TV, some of the fastest wifi ever, work desk, bathtub and rainforest shower!
The shower and bath were fantastic. Baths are not very common in South East Asian hotel rooms, and if you do have one, chances are it will be pretty small. The baths at the Crowne Plaza are humungous!
The bed itself was comfortable, large and every night there we had the perfect night's sleep. This was partly due to the comfiness of the bed, partly because of the complete darkness of the room and partly because of the special room mist you could spray to help you drift off!
All in all we loved our room, it was comfy and spacious and had everything that we needed.
The Pool
A real highlight of our stay was the infinity pool, it was so beautiful and the view was perfect. Everyday we lounged around before cooling off with a nice long dip.
There was also a couple of swans to hang out with! Perfect for taking cool insta-good shots!

The Gym
The gym as well was absolutely first class and had everything we needed (and more) to get a good work out.
Many hotels have a gym, which turns out to be a couple of (bad) running machines and a weight or two. The Crowne Plaza's gym is one of the best we've ever seen:
There were plenty of running machines and they were truly state of the art - they had a screen where you could watch the news/ play music/ surf the internet / solve world hunger (probably).
There were all the usual suspects when it came to work-out equipment and so much more! My favourite though was the punching bag! They even provide gloves.
You can also help yourself to complimentary water and fruit here.
Breakfast is buffet style with all the usual suspects: toast, cereal, cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, coffee, salad and more. The coffee in particular was amazing.
But, like with the gym, Crowne Plaza Vientiane takes it a step further than that. Actually they take it a step, hop and a jump further!
Never have we had such an amazing and extensive choice of breakfast at a hotel. There were lots of bars each dedicated to a different food 'group': fruit, yoghurts, cereals, pancakes and waffles, baked goods, salad, Chinese food, British food, cold cuts, noodles and so much more!
We were very impressed with the noodle station and also unashamedly impressed with the British station - the beans and hash-browns were epic!
No matter what your tastes/preferences are I promise you will find your favourites here.
There were plenty of vegan and vegetarian options too!
We really loved the location of the Crown Plaza, it was central enough that it was close to everything, but far away enough so that it wasn't noisy. Here are the places you can easily visit:
The Mekong River
The Mekong River
The Mekong River is just five minutes walk away, it's a beautiful sight. We saw people riding elephants there though which is sad (it's cruel to ride elephants, please don't).
Nevertheless, the Mekong River is a sight to be seen and a great place to watch the sun set and eat coconut nice cream.
The Night Market
Right next to the Mekong River is the Night market. This is a great place to people watch and buy a few souvenirs. Mostly they sell clothes here, but I wouldn't recommend these as they are all super thick for some reason! (You wouldn't want to wear them in Asia!)
Buddha Park
The Buddha Park is surprisingly far away from Vientiane (30 minutes), it's actually closer to Nong Khai. But it's still easy to reach from the Crowne Plaza Vientiane: catch a bus or a tuk tuk to the central market, and then another bus from there (for a detailed guide check out Visiting Buddha Park in Vientiane by our friend Zascha).
Conclusion
We were really impressed by our stay at the Crown Plaza Vientiane, the breakfast and gym in particular really exceed our expectations, and our room and the pool were awesome too.
To book your own stay, head on over to their website or find them on Agoda.
Travelling Weasels were invited as guests of the Crowne Plaza but as always all opinions are our own. We would never recommend anything we haven't personally tried and loved because that's not cool.
