The Unknown Soldier
“Step…..step…..click…..click”, as the soldiers walked methodically back and forth guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week someone stands guard at the tomb. It represents the many fallen that are only known to God. Many will lay their lives down for the United States and be part of the lost, but never forgotten.
There are many times what we do will go unknown and every moment is not captured in a photo. Those moments are not lost to us, nor forgotten. Our responsibilities as a titleholder are much more than just photos. While we were in DC, some of the most impactful experiences we had with soldiers were unable to be captured out of respect for them. This is simply meant to be a metaphorical reminder of what we are able to do as a International Pageants titleholder and in no way to equate us on the level of the sacrifice that our solders give for our freedom.
This below quote captured my attention as we toured the rest of Arlington Cemetery after seeing the tomb of the unknown soldiers. “The Energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light out country and all who serve it and the glow from that fir can truly light the world”. Reading this left me in silence thinking about what all of use are able to accomplish in our lives with energy, faith and devotion. Life can be tough, but press on knowing you are a light for not just our country and it’s people, but the world.
