In today’s hectic world with its instant communications and intrusive mobile technology, it really is increasingly difficult to “get away from it all.”  When planning a vacation, why not focus on finding somewhere that’s quiet and relaxing as well as an interesting place to visit?  Here are some of the most peaceful places on earth to slow down and unwind.

New Zealand

St.  Vincent and the Grenadines

St. Vincent and the Grenadines are a group of 32 small islands near St. Lucia and not far from Barbados.  Although the Caribbean is a popular tourist destination and can get very crowded, these islands are one of the more expensive places to stay and therefore remain fairly quiet.  With lots of sunshine, breath-taking views of the surrounding deep blue sea, beautiful natural landscapes and welcoming people, this is a gentle environment in which to relax and quietly unwind.

Canada

Canada is a big country, and that’s an advantage when planning to escape to a peaceful place.  There are vast stretches of landscape filled with mountains, lakes, rainforests, prairies and glaciers, not to mention several long coastlines washed by the Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific Oceans.  Beyond the cities, the open terrain beckons to those who love solitary trekking in the Canadian Rockies, hiking in the parks and mountains of Western Canada, and admiring alpine lakes and forests of conifers with only the wildlife for company.
